Like everyone else, Sophia Abrahão, 30, just wants to make her mark on the world. Actress, singer and presenter, she is now dedicated to her YouTube channel, Instagram and film recording, but mainly to her Book Club, and says that she needed to study and mature to learn to express her opinion and accept the criticism.
“I need to be in the debate”, says the artist. She says that she studied many causes and became more interested in relevant subjects over the years, and that she found in reading and in the Book Club a way to “try to make a difference in our culture, scrapped for many years in our country “.
Despite not having grown up as a voracious reader, at age 20 Abrahão created the habit of reading and sharing on social networks. Clube do Livro was born there, about three years ago, after a suggestion from a follower. “What makes me the most in this club is to have aroused the interest in reading among those enrolled in the project”, she says.
The club, which is partnered with publisher Harper Collins, is fully interactive. The artist explains that there is a vote between three titles to choose the book of the month, and lives are held with the participants to discuss the story. “One of the coolest things is how the same story can generate different points of view, it’s a very valuable exchange”, she says, in an interview with F5.
Sophia also does interviews with authors of some titles, including international ones, and shares them on her Instagram – and now, she will make them available on her YouTube channel, in the Sophia Interview box. “It’s my way of trying to contribute to education, because we are very lost in this country.”
Your channel is a way to be close to fans in a more casual format, inspired by podcasts and other channels. “I reactivated without the intention of having a channel with millions of subscribers, but because of the desire to create another channel of communication with my fans and a place where I can speak as myself.”
In the videos published on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the artist seeks to humorously bring conversations and issues to opine, and brings interactive boards with fans, such as Pitacos and Sophia Responde. “I’m feeling like a presenter again, being able to talk about all topics without any strings attached”, she says, remembering the time she led the Video Show (Globo), between 2018 and 2019.
But it’s not just lightness that moves her social networks, Sophia also likes to promote current debates. “It would be very unlikely for me not to speak out politically during this pandemic period”, says she, who has already taken the 3rd dose of the Covid vaccine. “I was moved and very sad, because we have a president who refuses to be vaccinated. It is very problematic”, completes the artist.
The subjects covered by her are so varied that they include vaccination to Big Brother Brasil 22 (Globo). The actress says that she is criticized for talking about the program and declaring fans, but “the BBB is still a big issue”. For her, the attitude of classifying the program as an inferior culture “is already out of fashion. You may not like it, but I think this speech is so 2010… Of being low culture and low entertainment”.
But wait there. It is not because she is a fan of the reality show that Sophia would enter the program as a participant. “My fans were divided”, she recalls, who was one of the names quoted for the current edition. “It’s risky, that game is very difficult… But I’ll follow it, it’s pop culture in Brazil”, completes the actress, who has worked with her brother Arthur Aguiar in “Rebelde” (Record TV, 2011).
As for acting, Sophia, whose last novel was “Salve-se Quem Puder” (Globo, 2020), says that she should shoot a film and, even without being able to say many details about the feature, she says she will play a different character. what you already did. “I really wanted to make movies”, she adds, who also declares her passion for TV.
In 2021, the actress was able to risk a new job on her resume, when doing the dubbing of the movie “Ron Bugado” (Disney), which arrived on the Disney+ streaming platform last Tuesday (15). “It was very good, I had never done a job like this, I had only dubbed myself. It’s very magical to hear your voice in the character”, she adds.
But since life is not all about work, Sophia also has plans for her personal life. The artist, who has been dating actor Sérgio Malheiros since they worked together on the soap opera “Alto Astral” (Globo, 2014), plans a celebration to mark their wedding. “We already consider ourselves married. At the end of the year, we will be eight years old. [de união] and we’ve lived together for six or seven years.”
However, Sophia says she doesn’t dream of a religious ceremony or a big party, and that she wants to do something intimate for friends and family, or even a trip. “I think it’s interesting to have a ritual”, completes the actress.
