Singer, songwriter and talk show host Kelly Clarkson, 39, wants to legally change her famous name to Kelly Brianne. Us Weekly magazine obtained court documents this week in which she asks to use her first and middle names.
According to the documents, the singer says the new name more fully reflects who she is. A hearing for the name change request is scheduled for March 28. People magazine reached out to a rep for the singer, who did not return a request for comment.
The name change came more than a year after a rocky divorce from businessman Brandon Blackstock, 44. Late last month, they reached a settlement over a ranch in Montana, which had been a sticking point in the process.
In December of last year, the singer was prevented by Justice from evicting her ex-husband from the ranch. A source told Us Weekly at the time that he was living there and could not afford to buy a house at the time.
Kelly and Blackstock have been married for seven years and are parents to River Rose, 7, and Remington Alexander, 5. After their divorce, the singer joked that she intends to be “single forever.” The artist spent more than R$ 6 million in the process.
