João Augusto Liberato, son of presenter Gugu (1959–2019), turned 20 this Wednesday (10) and celebrated the date in the United States with his mother, Rose Miriam Di Matteo, 58, and girlfriend, Gracie, at However, his 17-year-old sisters Marina and Sofia do not appear on the record.
Rose Miriam shared the photo on her Instagram and declared herself to the eldest son in the caption: “Our children are God’s blessings. Our great opportunity to become better people. Happy birthday, my beloved son!”, she wrote.
In September, the twins celebrated Rose Miriam’s birthday without her brother. They shared photos of their mother’s birthday, Rose Miriam Di Matteo, on social networks, but João Augusto did not appear in any of the images.
In July of this year, João Augusto questioned the emancipation of his sisters. “I am saddened and indignant to see the lies and the new manipulation that my sisters, two teenagers, who do not realize that people are serving their own interests, have been suffering,” he said at the time.
“If they were older and more experienced, they would, without a doubt,” added the young man. With the emancipation, they decided to hire the same lawyer as their mother, Nelson Wilians, to represent them in the lawsuit. Until then, they were represented by lawyers Nelson Regina and Dilermando Cigagna Júnior, appointed by their aunt Aparecida Liberato.
According to the new lawyer, Marina and Sofia were dissatisfied with the lack of information about the process and demanded that an independent audit be carried out on the inventory accounts. They also want to testify directly to the judge, as they have always been in favor of an agreement and recognize the existence of a stable relationship between Rose and Gugu.
João Augusto says he trusts the lawyers appointed by his aunt and that he repudiates the sisters’ emancipation, which he describes as “dubious”. He also blames the mother and maternal family for the “fantasy adventure” and for the “mishaps” that are taking place between them.
“I also confirm my total trust in my aunt Aparecida Liberato, appointed in her lifetime by my father as the person responsible for fulfilling the will and caring for and protecting my sisters Sofia and Marina, both minors,” he said. “That was my father’s will and I believe that everyone should respect it, because if tomorrow we inherit something, it will be the exclusive result of his work.”
“I can only imagine that the attitude of unduly involving my sisters and guiding them to lie, is the result of despair, since the truth is placed in the judicial process and they, deep down, know it”, he concluded.
