The British court, which in February refused to grant systematic police protection to Prince Harry during his visits to the United Kingdom, rejected, this Monday (15), an appeal presented by the member of the British royal family.
Prince Harry, youngest son of King Charles III, and his wife, Meghan Markle, lost the right to protection, with public funds, when visiting the United Kingdom, after deciding, in 2020, to end their public duties as part of the royal family and move to California, in the United States.
Harry questioned the authorities’ decision not to grant him protection, after they determined that they would analyze possible security measures on each trip the prince made. At the end of February, the High Court in London ruled that this decision was “not unreasonable”.
A spokesman for the prince indicated at the time that Harry would appeal, considering that he was not “claiming preferential treatment”, but simply a “fair and legal” application of protection rules.
But the Supreme Court itself rejected the prince’s appeal this Monday, and the judge confirmed that the decision had “founded” reasons for not granting him systematic protection.
The prince can still appeal to an appeals court. The magistrate also ordered Harry on Monday to pay 90% of the Home Office’s legal costs in this case.
February’s ruling represented Prince Harry’s second legal defeat to maintain safety measures when visiting the United Kingdom. In May last year, the courts denied him the right to benefit from police protection, despite his intention to pay for it with his own money.

The prince’s last trip to the United Kingdom dates back to a brief visit to London on February 6 to see his father, the day after he announced he had cancer.
The issue of safety is a very sensitive issue for Prince Harry, who blames the press and paparazzi for the fatal accident of his mother, Princess Diana, in Paris in 1997. The Duke of Sussex has also initiated several legal proceedings against the tabloids British people.
