Selective guide to theater productions ending just before Easter
“At the end of the day” and, literally, at the end of the season we can say that it was not a bad year for Greek theater production. Amidst the familiar flood of performances from October until today, there were interesting and some very interesting attempts.
For those who endured the whole drama and those who end, traditionally, Plague Sunday, a selective guide with what you can see in the next three weeks.
“The Humans” at the Mousouri Theatre
The directorial attempt of Constantinos Markoulakis in the genre of modern social dramedy is vindicated once again. This time on the occasion of Steven Karam’s award-winning text which, structured in a Chekhovian problematic, reveals the fears of modern Western society: Poverty, failure, loneliness, conservatism. A well-paced narrative is woven around the relationships of the characters and the qualities of the performances.
Themis Bazakas, Lazaros Georgakopoulos, Xenia Kalogeropoulou, Konstantinos Aspiotis, Irini Makri, Maria Petevi – ‘take off’ the performance in the realm of the earthly and the tangible.

He is guided by a worthy group of performers – Mania Papadimitriou, Dimitris Petropoulos, Tasos Lekkas, Alexandros Varthis, Isidora Doropoulou – who, with self-sacrifice, underline the qualities of the work and give flesh and bones to the manifestations of a fragmented world.
