Rapper Kenneth Petty, Nicki Minaj’s husband, asked the US court for permission to accompany her on her European tour.
Kenny Petty, as he is known, is on probation for failing to register as a sex offender in California. He was convicted of attempted rape in 1994, when he was 17, against a 16-year-old girl.
He served four years in prison at the time and was registered as a sex offender in New York state, where the crime occurred.
When he moved to California in 2018, the rapper refused to register as a sex offender. He was sentenced to three years of probation and one year of house arrest. At the time, the singer came to her husband’s defense.
Nicki Minaj and Kenneth have been married since 2019 and are parents to three-year-old Papa Bear.
According to TMZ, the rapper asked the court for permission to travel, claiming he needs to take care of his son while Nicki performs on her “Pink Friday 2” tour.
According to documents obtained by the American website, Kenneth requested permission to travel from April 17th. The tour will visit Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, United Kingdom, Austria, Ireland, Switzerland and Romania.
The rapper has also served six years in prison for manslaughter. On that occasion, one person died in a shooting in which he was present.
