Withstood Valencia’s counterattack and Monaco returned to winning ways

Bend the fighter Valencia and returned to victories n Monaco!

Coming off their away defeat against Virtus Bologna, Vassilis Spanoulis’ side wanted to respond and they did so, taking the win with 90-84 in the Principality and improving its record to 3-2.

The hosts were impressive offensively in the first half of the match, winning by a partial score of 30-15 in the second period and going to the locker room being +20 (57-47), and despite seeing their opponent close, they did not lose their composure and finally reached the victory!

Leading for Monaco were Dialo (16p, 5 rib), Mirotic (15p), Strazel (14Ï€) and James (9 points, 8 assists), while for Valencia, which fell to 2-3, they stood out Bandyo (16Ï€) and Rovers (10p, 9 rebs).

Monaco was better in the first minutes of the match, leading 8-2 with four different scorers, while Strazel made it 11-4 with a three-pointer, before hitting again from a distance, for 14-6! Taylor responded, cutting it to 14-9, and Puerto’s 5-point run made it 16-14, with the hosts regaining their rhythm, pulling away to a 21-14 lead thanks to a Mirotic foul basket. Puerto made it 8 points to cut it to 21-17 as the first period ended with Monaco leading by 27-22.

Another basket and a foul by Mirotic brought the score to 30-22, while Valencia remained without a basket for 3.5 minutes, with Spanoulis’ team increasing the difference in their favor to +13 (35-22)! Roivets “broke the pomegranate” for the visitors and shortly after Puerta reduced it to 37-27, but Monaco had found a rhythm, going into the locker room at +20 (57-37) and having three in double figures (Mirotic, Strazel and Tice).

Valencia counter-attacked in the third quarter, after the 60-40“ran” an impressive 22-8 run with a plurality of her attacks, getting closer to 68-62, before Nedovic with his shots shaped the 71-62.

The visitors came close again to 6 (71-65), thanks to a three-pointer by Costello, but Hayes and Nedovic restored the double-digit difference (76-65) in favor of Monaco, which maintained its “safety margin”, entering the “final stretch” of the match, with Valencia trying, but not being able to find the breakthrough.
