Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler, stars of “Heartstopper” and “The Hunger Games”, debut in the fall season on the Broadway (NY) stage with the play “Romeo and Juliet”, a classic by English playwright William Shakespeare. Directed by Sam Gold, the production features a score by music producer Jack Antonoff, a working partner of pop stars such as Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift.
With tickets expected to go on sale in May, the play will be a version adapted for current times and aims to capture the new generation of young people. More information about the theater in which the production will take place, cast and premiere date will be announced at a later date, Variety reported.
British actor Kit Connor, 20, who will play the tragic role of Romeo, already played the child version of singer Elton John in the biographical film “Rocketman” (2019), but won the hearts of Generation Z with the series “Heartstopper” (2022 ), from Netflix, an LGBTQIAP+ novel based on the work of Alice Oseman.
Playing Juliet, American actress Rachel Zegler will play another classic film character, Snow White, scheduled to debut on the big screen in 2025, and recently played the fearless Lucy Gray in “The Hunger Games: A Song of Birds and Snakes” (2023 ).
