Dua Lipa graces the cover of the magazine Time with the 100 most influential people in the world. The news was announced by the artist herself through her social media accounts, where she thanked the magazine and her collaborators.

“Thanks to ‘Time’, my friend and hero Patti Smith for the wonderful words”wrote the pop icon and excited her fans.

Lipa is a global superstar who has had five Top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and appeared in last year’s most successful movie, the movie ‘Barbie’. Lipa’s considered approach to her work is in keeping with what she told Time with a smile in 2017: “I’d like to conquer the world… If I could”. The celebrated artist, now 28, is more composed, but no less enthusiastic.

The star has revealed that since she was a child she used to record her dreams, planning in advance what would happen next. “You never know what can happen”the star characteristically said, talking about the new album, making it known that “manifestation” is something very important to her.

In parallel, the magazine presents the story of Lipa, born in London to Kosovar Albanian parents Dukagjin and Anesa Lipa, who fled Pristina as refugees in the 90s.

When Lipa was 11, her family moved back to Kosovo, where years later she asked her parents to return to London in order to pursue a career in music. “I come from two places at the same time. Being from Kosovo is a big part of me and getting Albanian citizenship is exciting.”said the famous artist in her interview.

To honor her roots, Lipa is equally committed to changing the way many think – the wrong way – of countries like Kosovo and Albania. “When people think of Kosovo, I don’t want them to say, “Oh, war-torn Kosovo.” There’s so much more to it,” explains. “We’re doing a festival in Pristina, me and my dad, which aims to bring people from all over the world to come here and see how different it is from what they expect – whether it’s artists from all over the world or fans who they come to see artists they love from neighboring countries. I know that when I lived in Kosovo, none of my favorite artists came there. It’s my biggest dream to be able to bring that to the kids there.”.

As for her new record, she points out: “I’m just a different person, so of course this record will be different. I have different thoughts, desires, needs and perspectives. I have made a 180 degree turn in myself… I feel the most confident at this point in my life”he adds.
