Nick Cave mentioned Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Patti Smith, Nina Simone, Van Morrison and other artists who, for him, constitute a kind of confederation of excellence
Nick Cave he recalled reconciling with artists who “disappointed” him, explaining that he is willing to look past their personal judgments if the art they make is “authentic.”
Australian singer, songwriter and writer, known by the band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds addressed the issue in a new post on his blog “The Red Hand Files”when a fan reached out to him to ask about his “religious turn” and if he ever feels like he’s “letting down female fans and queer people who admire him.”
In response, Nick Cave shared his own experience of being disappointed by artists he once admired and explained how he was able to look past their personal choices and enjoy their artwork for what it is.

“When I think about the artists I really admire, the ones I’ve stuck with over the years, at some point in their long careers they’ve all let me down” clarified.
Nick Cave mentioned Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Patti Smith, Nina Simone, Van Morrison and to other artists, who for him, form a kind of confederation of excellence, but at some point they all confused or displeased him.
“Often they have not traveled in the direction I would have hoped or desired, instead following their own subversive paths to their own truths” write down.

“Sometimes I’ve been bothered by things they’ve done, disagreed with things they’ve said, or not liked a certain record they’ve made. However, there is something about them that keeps me fascinated and always on the lookout for what they might do next.” Nick Cave added.
“More than anything else, this has to do with their authenticity. I know that at a fundamental level they are on their own path and not in the business of shaping their lives, artistic or otherwise, to please or make others feel better. They are completely authentic, regardless of my feelings or anyone else’s, and I find that deeply reassuring in a world that so often feels devoid of authenticity. In fact, if I feel that an artist is creating, saying or doing things just to gain public approval or to pander to market demands, that’s when I tend to walk away.” he emphasized.
“Our lives are complicated and we all think and do things to each other that are often incomprehensible, but we do so because we live our experiences and find our truths in different places. Much to my surprise, I found some of my truths in this utterly fallible, often frustrating, profoundly strange, and utterly human institution of the Church. Sometimes, this is as confusing to me as it can be to you.” concluded.

“I suspect that in music we will all find each other. Bound together by sound and rhythm, in this special place beyond dogma and opinion and offense, we can understand the world.” he emphasized.
