AppleTV + recently announced a new series of 8 episodes, in anthology style, where the leading role will be played by women’s stories.
This is Roar, the new venture of the platform, in which we will see old favorites, but also new actors.
The Roar series will be based on a collection of short stories.
In 2018, Cecelia Ahern, author of PS I Love You and many other well-known works, released a collection of short stories focusing on women and their experiences. Her book was characterized, among other things, as smart and daring, which is why its transfer to the small screen was not long in coming.
The new Roar series will tell women stories through the prism of magical realism. The fairy tales we knew so far will take on flesh and blood, but the women in them will certainly be unpredictable. Through the 8 episodes of the series, we will see 8 different stories and 8 different women. They all seem simple and everyday, but they all try to resist what those around them impose on them. It only remains to be seen how they will choose to make their “revolution” and maintain their resilience.
These women are called to find the power they have within them. Even if it hides a cost for those around them. And all this happens with great doses of humor and cynicism, which make Roar very special.
Which actors will we see in the 8 episodes of Roar
Nicole Kidman was the first name announced for her participation in the series. They were followed by Issa Rae, Cynthia Erivo, Alisson Brie, Merritt Wever, Betty Gilpin, Meera Syal, Fivel Stewart and Kara Hayward. Nicole Kidman is in fact the producer of this project and that is why she was very careful in the choices she made for its implementation.
Roar will premiere on April 15 on AppleTV +.
