Mike Tyson says his mother’s death was one of the ‘best things that ever happened’

Former boxer and world boxing champion Mike Tyson, 55, caused controversy in a statement to Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast. He said that the death of his mother, when he was just 16 years old, was positive for him to become a successful boxer.

“One of the best things that ever happened to me was that my mother died. My mother would have spoiled me. No way would I have gotten into a street fight, no way would I have learned to defend myself,” he explains.
