Shaquille O’Neal shared a somber message on Instagram following the publication of his ex-wife’s memoir, Shaunie Henderson.

In her book, his ex-wife hints that she was never in love with the former NBA player. In her memoirs, “UNDEFEATED: Changing the Rules and Winning on My Own Terms”released May 7, Henderson, 49, writes: “Looking back, I don’t know if I was ever really in love”referring to Shaquille O’Neal, whom she married in 2002.

During their relationship, which began in the late 90s and finally ended in 2009 when Henderson filed for divorce, the couple also had to deal with O’Neill’s infidelity, which he admitted in his memoir in 2011, “Shaq Uncut: My Story”.

Henderson explained in her memoir that “she was in love with the idea of marrying the man I had a family with” and “with the idea of building a life together” during their marriage.

Henderson and O’Neal have four children. They are also both parents to Myles, from Henderson’s previous relationship, while O’Neal has a daughter, Taahirah, with ex-girlfriend Arnetta Yardbourgh.

Henderson also wrote that she really enjoyed spending time with O’Neal, but because he was trying to be a world-famous, thirty-something multi-millionaire with thousands of women “thrown” at him—while also being a husband and father—the relationship they finally broke up.

On May 8, O’Neal posted his own response on Instagram, which – admittedly – seems to have gone down well with his fans. “Trust me, I get it… I wouldn’t be in love with me either. I wish you the best. With all love, Shaq”he wrote in his post.
