Jojo Todynho used social media to criticize public authorities because of the state of calamity in Rio Grande do Sul after heavy rains that hit several cities in Rio Grande do Sul last week. The singer said she was “appalled” by the lack of mobilization from governments and accused politicians of lacking solidarity and failing to guarantee the safety of flood victims.
“I came here as a human being to call on the authorities, president of the Republic, politicians and governors to get their face and hands dirty for Rio Grande do Sul. The Brazilian people are already mobilized, but where is the public power? They are looting, sexually abusing of women and children, things are out of control. The Brazilian people are teaching a lesson in solidarity, but where are the public authorities?”, he asked in the video published on Instagram.
The champion of A Fazenda 12 claimed to be terrified by what she has seen and heard about Rio Grande do Sul. “We can’t take it anymore. There’s a lack of education, there’s a lack of health, there’s a lack of sanitation, sanitation, sanitation… Wow, what the hell? Get out!” he said. “I’m so nervous I can’t [falar]. The population needs you. How long are you going to stay like this? We are waiting for a response,” he said.
The video divided opinions on the internet. While some internet users approved of Jojo’s demands, other followers disagreed with the singer and pointed out that the government was sending military personnel to the cities of Rio Grande do Sul, in addition to helping with financial funds.
