Madonna shares what she said to her mother during a tribute on tour: ‘I hope you’re proud of me’

Madonna, 65, paid tribute to her mother this Sunday (12). Madonna Louise Ciccone died in 1963, aged 30, from cancer and the singer was five years old at the time.

“I stood on stage for 81 shows looking at my mother’s beautiful face and wondering what she must have been thinking as she waved to me from the hospital window. I got into the station wagon and closed the door not knowing it would be the last time I would see her “, began in the publication.

“No one told me my mother was dying — I just watched her mysteriously disintegrate and then she disappeared and there was no explanation except that she had fallen asleep, which explains my tumultuous relationship with sleep,” acknowledged Madonna, who posted a photo of the mother on the screen at the beginning of the presentations.

“When I stood on stage and looked at my mother’s face every night, I said hello, I said goodbye, I said thank you and I hope you’re proud of me. I said, ‘Please protect me and keep me I’m healthy'”, added Madonna, who is grateful for a closer relationship with her children on this tour, which ended with a show on Copacabana beach, in Rio.

Mercy James and David Banda, both 18, and twins Stella and Estere, 11, made appearances on stage. Madonna is also mother to Lourdes, 27, and Rocco, 23. “I’ve gotten really close to my kids on this tour. They’ve helped me manifest my dreams.
