Carol Nakamura and her husband Guilherme Leonel have been in Rio Grande do Sul for two days and work as volunteers in animal rescues in cities in Rio Grande do Sul devastated by heavy rains last week. The digital influencer and presenter has been sharing the rescues and regretted receiving criticism from many internet users on her social networks.
“There are people who judge without knowing or doing anything. They think the world revolves around engagement and little do they know that we helped animals before social networks even existed”, began Carol. “A photo in a bikini gives more engagement than a rescue. Unfortunately.”
The couple has used a watercraft to recover animals stranded in distant locations. “I left Rio de Janeiro with the following phrase: ‘if I rescue even one life, my trip was already worth it’. Balance of the first day: three dogs, two chickens and two mousetraps. It’s very tough, it demands a lot of energy, but the feeling of duty accomplished is wonderful”, said Carol.
She also thanked Guilherme for his support in the mission for animals. The two have been married for three years. “I found my soulmate. I’ve always been like this, I often wish I wasn’t because we suffer a lot from losses. But when I stop to think about the lives saved, it’s all worth it.”
