The Madonna paid tribute to a woman who has inspired her for decades. The singer, who recently finished her tour “The Celebration Tour” in Brazil, traveled to Mexico to honor Frida Kahlo.

“A beautiful souvenir – visiting the family home of my eternal muse – Frida Kahlo, in Mexico City”the 65-year-old “queen of pop” wrote in a post on social media.

“It was magical for me to try on her clothes and jewelry, read her diaries and letters, and look at photographs I had never seen before.”

Frida Kahlo was born in Coyoacan, a suburb of Mexico City, in July 1907. At the time, no one could have imagined that the young girl would become one of the greatest painters and pop idols, whose paintings would be exhibited in the largest museums world. Nor of course that she will live a passionate and sad marriage with the famous painter and “women”, Diego Rivera, who became known mainly for his large murals.

Frida Kahlo

In 1925, 18-year-old Frida Kahlo was returning from school when a car collided with her bus, killing several passengers and seriously injuring herself. This accident marked the life of Frieda, already suffering from polio for many years, she was forced to undergo dozens of operations, give up her dream of becoming a doctor and become bedridden.

With her art she explored issues such as identity, gender, social classes, race, colonialism and many other issues that concern us to this day. At the same time, with her life she questioned the stereotypes and the “shoulds” of the time and lived freely, without compromises, until the last moment of her life.
