American actor Glenn Powell revealed the reasons why he decided to leave Hollywood and move to his hometown, Texas.

After living in Los Angeles for more than 15 years, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s moving to Austin to be closer to his family and to get his degree from the University of Texas.

Powell, whose career was launched by the film “Top Gun: Maverick” who broke the box office in 2022 and the following year with “Anyone But You”, underlined that at 35 he is ready for this change by defining that his most important gain that “he got to this point in Hollywood is now he can leave Hollywood.”

“It’s like I won the opportunity to return to my family” added the famous actor, adding that the example of Matthew McConaughey, who moved with his family to Texas from Malibu during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, strengthened his decision.

McConaughey speaking in interviews he had emphasized the difficult, but ultimately correct decision he made.

“He told me, ‘Hollywood is like the Matrix, man. You plug in and everything is a fake world. Then I go to Austin and unplug the cord. That’s where everything is real…my friends, my family,” Powell recalled and adds. “And he’s right. If you are here, you are living the Matrix all the time, there is no separation of these worlds. And for me, especially now that my parents are growing up and so are my nieces and nephews, I want a separation of these worlds.”

According to ET, the star recently bought a house within walking distance of his parents, who have made guest appearances in almost all of his films.
