Rod Stewart, 76, said he was too young when he was first married at age 34 in 1979. “When I told my dad I was getting married, he said, ‘You’re too young.’ He was right,” recalled the British singer-songwriter. “I still had a lot to live, party, drink and fuck,” he recalled.

In the edition of People magazine to be published this Friday (12), the legendary rocker says he understood his father’s speech even in his first marriage, to Alana Stewart, 76, from whom he separated in 1984. Even though he was ready to marriage, he claims he was wrong.

At 45, he remarried, this time to Rachel Hunter, 52. “When I got married the second time, I really thought she would be the only one, but I was wrong,” says the singer, who stayed with the model from 1990 to 1999 A few days after the breakup, he met his current wife, model Penny Lancaster, 50.

“Rachel broke up with me Monday night, and it was heartbreaking. Nobody leaves Rod!” joked, the artist, with a laugh, telling that on Saturday of the same week he met Lancaster in a London hotel.

“My band’s bassist, Carmine, said, ‘Listen, you just got out of a nine-year long marriage. You’re not ready yet.’ I almost strangled him,” recalled the singer. The bandmate gave the model’s phone number to Rod just six months later tonight.

“She fixed my heart in a lot of ways,” says Stewart, who made the marriage with Lancaster official in 2006. “It’s a perfect relationship. your life! Forget about men!'” he advises.

Together, Stewart and Lancaster, 50, have two children, Alastair, 15, and Aiden, 10. In addition to the boys, he is also the father of Sarah, 58, whom his ex-girlfriend Susannah Boffey and he put up for adoption as teenagers; Sean 41, and Kimberly, 42, with Alana; Ruby, 34, with ex-girlfriend Kelly Emberg; and Renee, 29, and Liam, 27, with Hunter.

“I couldn’t ask for anything better,” he says. “What makes me happiest now is seeing all my children and my wife with big smiles on their faces,” said the singer before declaring himself to the children. “Success for me is being able to take care of them and giving them the opportunity to do what they want in business,” says Stewart. “There’s nothing like having children,” he concluded.

In 2022, the artist is expected to repeat his acclaimed Las Vegas residency, “Rod Stewart: The Hits.” But before that, this Friday (12), he will release his 31st studio album, “The Tears of Hercules”, which he refers to as “the best album I’ve made in a long time”.
