Wanessa Camargo used social media to say that she had health problems. She and her two children, José Marcus and João Francisco, contracted a rotavirus infection and became ill with fever and diarrhea.
“It’s very heavy. My eldest son was diagnosed with rotavirus. There’s a lot of diarrhea and there’s a high risk of dehydration. Then João got it, then me”, he said in a post on Instagram.
The singer said she continues to rest after three days of not being able to get out of bed. “I’m here at the very end of the illness and I only managed to get up today. I’ve spent the last few days feeling a bit strange, I feel really weak”, explained the former BBB member who alerted her followers. “Be very careful with children and the elderly too. Always wash your hands and food thoroughly. Take care of yourselves.”
According to the Ministry of Health, rotavirus is transmitted through contact between people, ingestion of contaminated water and food, contact with contaminated objects, and airborne spread through aerosols. Common symptoms are diarrhea with a watery and greasy appearance, high fever and vomiting.
Rotavirus infection can last up to a week, as the virus replicates in the body. In its most severe form, it tends to cause dehydration and continuous fever, which can lead to death.
