Alec Baldwin angers Halyna Hutchins’ widower for denying responsibility

“Every holiday, Christmas, New Year’s, our birthday, my birthday, Valentine’s Day, I mean every holiday is hard without her,” the widower said in an interview with Today’s Hoda Kotb.

Kotb asked Hutchins if he thinks Baldwin deserves “most of the blame” for Halyna’s death. “The idea that the person who is holding the gun and causing the shooting is not responsible is absurd to me,” said the widower, who is suing Baldwin and others for his wife’s death.

Halyna’s widower added that gun safety wasn’t the only issue on set. “There were a lot of industry standards that weren’t practiced and there are multiple parties responsible.”

Kotb also asked Hutchins about Baldwin’s crying comments during his first interview with ABC News last year. The actor said at the time that someone was responsible for what happened. “I can’t say who it is, but I know it’s not me,” Baldwin said.

Hutchins was harshly critical of the interview, claiming that it felt like Baldwin “was the victim” of the situation. “Watching him, I felt so angry, so angry to see him talk about her death so publicly in such detail and then not accept any responsibility after he had just finished describing her death,” Hutchins said.

Halyna’s family is suing Baldwin for manslaughter. He was carrying the gun that fired the shot. At a February 15 press conference, attorney Brian Parnish argued that the actor and other producers of the western had engaged in “reckless conduct and cost-cutting measures” resulting in Hutchins’ death.

The attorney representing Mathew and Andros, Hutchins’ husband and son respectively, presented a list of “at least 15 industry standard procedures” that he said were ignored by producers on set.
