The grants were announced following an invitation through the Register of Cultural Organizations, launched on December 21, 2023, to grant and/or provide patronage to organizations with the above purpose.
With 380,000 euros, organizations throughout Greece are being subsidized for the implementation of cultural actions and programs with the aim of promoting the universal accessibility of people with disabilities in culture, the Ministry of Culture says in a statement. The action takes place within the framework of the “Creative Greece – Contemporary Culture Grants 2024” program.
The grants were announced following an invitation through the Register of Cultural Organizations, launched on December 21, 2023, to grant and/or provide patronage to organizations with the above purpose.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states in its announcement, a total of 45 proposals were submitted by institutions within the framework of the call for expression of interest. The Working Group gave a positive opinion in favor of the grant and grant of patronage, as the case may be, to 42 institutions.
The program “Creative Greece – Contemporary Culture Grants 2024” practically supports contemporary culture throughout the country. Its main aim is to strengthen and highlight worthy cultural events/actions/initiatives in all sectors, while contributing to the renewal of citizens’ interest in contemporary artistic creations.
The main objectives of the invitation – among others – are the following:
– The promotion of artists with disabilities and/or chronic diseases and the promotion of their freedom of expression through art.
– Strengthening social cohesion and inclusion through contemporary artistic creation.
– The encouragement of creators – organizations – groups that are systematically involved in the production of cultural-artistic actions aimed at people with disabilities.
– Networking and cooperation at local, regional and central level, between cultural-artistic bodies of disabled people and business bodies.
– Strengthening the entrepreneurship of people with disabilities in the cultural and creative sector and encouraging their networking with other agencies.
– The promotion of collaborations with artists and groups from abroad that specialize in the production of cultural activities with and for people with disabilities.
As the Deputy Minister of Culture Christos Dimas said: “With the above action, the Ministry of Culture aims to defend the rights of people with disabilities, but also to promote their social inclusion and skills, with their participation in cultural actions and creative programs” .
