“How ready a people will be to accept and face these measures is precisely the voice of the KKE MEPs.”
The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, in an interview on ERT1 on Monday afternoon, emphasized “The higher the KKE, the better for Greece, for the working people, for the youth”.
Asked why someone would vote for the KKE which is against the EU, he answered “because in the European Parliament, everything happens in the national parliament. The overwhelming majority of unpopular decisions are discussed and taken, decisions that are not in the interest of the Greek people and workers. There, the KKE that expresses the opposing voice in the EU of monopolies, corruption lobbies, exploitation, wars, precision and all anti-people laws and directives is a decisive factor so that the workers of our country can have a voice that will prevent anti-popular measures, reveal them and organize the fight against them in the country and at the European level”.
“The European Parliament takes the lead in unpopular directives, directions and measures, and then the national parliaments, such as the Greek Parliament, and the governing majority ratify and implement these measures that are co-shaped in the European Parliament” he completed and added:
“How ready a people will be to accept and face these measures is precisely the voice of the KKE MEPs.”
Referring to Gaza, D. Koutsoumbas noted that “the grandiose mobilizations around the world and in Greece have the first results, as a different logic of approach begins and takes shape”.
He noted, among other things, that the “International Criminal Court, after these demonstrations, condemned Netanyahu as a war criminal. The UN International Court of Justice ordered Netanyahu to stop the shelling of Rafah and open a humanitarian exit.
In the remark about the condemnation (by the International Criminal Court) “and the leadership of Hamas” he mentioned “and the leadership of Hamas, but he had done this from the beginning. From the beginning he had condemned them…. But now he also condemned Netanyahu as a war criminal.”
He pointed out that “at the same time that Netanyahu continues to bomb and kill children and civilians, the Greek government is conducting military exercises with Israel in the Mediterranean. He continues to give him the alibi of “self-defense” which in the early days may have been justified or explained… We never justify this because October arrived after decades of murderous strikes against the Palestinian people. In addition, it still does not recognize the Palestinian state despite the unanimous decision of the Greek Parliament. Now is the time to follow the example of Spain, Ireland, Norway and 143 other countries.”
“The Greek government has sided with the terrorist state of Israel against the Palestinian people,” he pointed out.
When asked if the KKE can cooperate with other political forces on a number of issues, such as Tempi, wiretapping, Health and accuracy, D. Koutsoubas said that “it has happened that we coincide with other opposition parties on some issues. This does not mean complicity, because the problem starts when you propose political solutions. There is day and night.”
Regarding the issue of Tempi, he noted that based on the case file, the least that needs to be done is to set up a Pre-Investigation Committee as there are criminal responsibilities. We will support the Pre-Investigation Committee, as we had supported the SYRIZA proposal and the PASOK proposal for a Pre-Investigation, but only that we do not have the possibility due to the number of MPs to propose a Pre-Investigation”.
Answering the question “So if these parties bring a proposal for a preliminary investigation, will you support it?” he replied: “Of course we will support her and not only that. We used to say that in order to get this scumbag out of the way, the ministerial responsibility law must be repealed. And we had proposed to the Constitutional Review that the law on the responsibility of ministers be revised and neither the ND, nor SYRIZA, nor PASOK agreed, because only in this way could the criminal responsibilities be directly attributed and the ministers also tried, like the entire Greek people”.
The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE described as “outrageous and repulsive” the discussion about the properties and wealth of certain political leaders, on the occasion of Mr. Kasselakis’ “where do you belong”. “When the worker does not have to spend the month and is counting euro after euro for what he will spend, it is disgusting that there is a discussion on the channels six days before the European elections about the untold wealth that some people have” he added.
Asked if things are “clean” with political money in Greece, he answered “no, it is not clean and there is no transparency. There is a lot of money under the table and, of course, let me remind you again, because we are talking about Europe and European elections, when we call the EU the “Europe of lobbies and corruption”, we have experienced this in the past, about how MEPs, political parties, in particular persons, also, from various lobbies of other countries, of other financial and political interests to vote specific directives and specific measures in the European Parliament that they like of course. “Well, that’s not transparency, that’s shame.”
In response to the question “how does Dimitris Koutsoubas feel on Tiktok” he noted, among other things, that “the achievements of science that also help in communication must be used. Except that especially with Social Media and here is also a call for the youth, they must be used sparingly, in moderation, like everything else”.
He emphasized that in any case, and of course in politics, the most important thing is live contact with people.
He also noted that the MKD and TikTok in the KKE “do not use them personally to promote themselves, but only as a party and the Secretary and other executives and other candidates are also used there”.
Finally asked about “which is the correct measure of comparison, the previous European elections or the last national elections for the percentages of the parties” he said “I think it is a combination. Of course, the most recent is what you have as an impression in the previous elections, always, of course, counting and calculating what you got in corresponding European elections in relation to the parliamentary elections at the time, but the treatment should be the same in all parties, because I hear from many , he says “Mmm the KKE is decreasing” and they measure, I know, the poll rise or fall of a party depending on the developments only and they don’t measure by what percentage it has as a starting point”.
