Adapting to Maya Massafera’s hormones after gender transition is the hardest part for the influencer. In a new post on social media, she published photos of some of the stages and vented.
“A doctor explained that it’s the feeling of a pregnant woman + PMS + menopause. We have studies on so many things in medicine, but about transition it’s not so simple. I went to doctors considered ‘the best’ who had no knowledge whatsoever.”
The influencer, who said she was taking hormone blockers, also countered some of the criticism she received after the procedure and questioned whether her photos with “expensive looks” were the cause.
“What bothers you? Me being a trans woman with these expensive looks and not being in the place of marginalization that you want to put me in? Does it bother you that a trans woman has these privileges? We have to demand from our politicians! Dignity and human rights they should not be limited by prejudices. Being a woman is not easy, being a trans woman is even more difficult.
Maya also talked about comments she receives to “not look like a transvestite”. “I’m a transvestite, I’m trans. It’s okay for me to look like what I am! That doesn’t make me any less or more of a woman.”
