Six months ago, Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assault and harassment against his ex-girlfriend by a jury in New York. In April, the sentence was issued and the actor was ordered to undergo a year-long domestic violence counseling program.
Last Saturday night (22), he cried when receiving the Perseverance award at the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards, an award for those who make an impact in the entertainment industry, in Los Angeles. Through tears, the artist said he is imperfect and recognizes his flaws.
“Perseverance means what? It means persistence in doing something despite difficulty. And the God I serve put me in a position where I had to incorporate that word more than I wanted or wanted,” he said, according to the American newspaper Variety .
“We live in a world where men, especially black men, are considered either superheroes or supervillains. But I’ve come to realize, personally, that I’m nothing like that. I’m just that guy whose faith was tested. It was strengthened by that testimony,” he continued . “I receive this award not only as recognition that I have persevered, but as a command to be there for others and help them when and if their trials come.”
The actor’s career was on the rise in Hollywood and, after the case, he was fired by Marvel Studios. Last June, the New York Times reported that the New York Police had evidence that the woman who accused the actor of assault actually attacked him. She later modified her account.
