Princess Anne, 73, had to be hospitalized after suffering a blow to the head. According to The Guardian, the injury may have been caused by a fall from a horse or another type of impact after riding on her property in Gatcombe Park, in Gloucestershire. Anne practices horse riding and has already won medals.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said she had minor injuries. “Her Royal Highness remains at Southmead Hospital in Bristol as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery,” it reads in part.
King Charles III, her brother, has been kept informed and joins the family in sending positive energy for her recovery, another excerpt states.
After the incident, reports the Guardian, the emergency was called. After medical treatment at the scene, Anne was transferred to Southmead hospital. She is expected to be discharged this week, but her commitments will have to be postponed.
The princess would visit Canada at the end of the week and would also participate in a palace banquet that will be held this Tuesday (25) for a Japanese state visit.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said Anne “is recovering well, is in a comfortable condition and is being kept in hospital as a precautionary measure.”
