In a historic vote this Tuesday (25), the STF formed a majority for the decriminalization of marijuana possession for consumption. Next Wednesday (26), the official result of the trial will be announced and the amount that differentiates possession from trafficking will be defined.
Duda Beat, Maria Ribeiro, Elisa Lucinda, Rafa Chalub (Esse Menino), Bem Gil, DFideliz, Whindersson Nunes, Marcelo D2 and Matuê were some of the celebrities who celebrated the news publicly.
Comedian Rafa Chalub made a video explaining the decision to Internet users: “Marijuana was decriminalized in Brazil, it doesn’t mean it was legalized. I’m warning you because stoners are slower. Take it easy, you won’t walk away with that block of sugar “, warns the comedian.
Rapper DFideliz shared a video in which comedian Thiago Ventura appears laughing with a homemade cigarette in his mouth. Marcelo D2, a historic defender of weed, recalled his own fight for decriminalization with his 1997 verse: “I sing like this because I smoke marijuana.”
Duda Beat, owner of the hit “Chapadinha na Praia”, posted stories commenting on the vote. Whindersson Nunes joked on X: “Whoever called me a stoner can keep doing so.”
Musician Bem Gil, son of Gilberto Gil and member of the band Gilsons, celebrated the news with a post on Instagram. In the post, the STF justice statue appears holding a cannabis leaf. “A big step, but the fight is not over yet”, says the art.
More discreetly, Matuê and actresses Maria Ribeiro and Elisa Lucinda shared news about decriminalization. “Great day! This decision is especially important for black youth, who are the biggest victims of criminalization”, says the text shared by Elisa Lucinda.
