The next film of the multi-awarded Greek filmmaker Giorgos Lanthimos entitled “Bugonia” will premiere in American theaters in 2025, according to the distribution company Focus Features. The film is based on the South Korean sci-fi comedy ‘Save the Green Planet!’ of 2003 written and directed by Jang Joon-Hwan.

The script by Emmy Award-winner Will Tracy focuses on “two young men obsessed with conspiracy theories who kidnap the powerful CEO of a major corporation, convinced that she is an extraterrestrial out to destroy Earth.”

Once again, Lanthimos collaborates with his muse and Oscar winner Emma Stone, as well as with the Cannes award-winning star of “Kinds of Kindness” Jesse Plemons.

According to Deadline, Focus Features has taken over the distribution of the film in America, Universal Pictures in the rest of the world and CJ ENM in Korea.

Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe will produce through Element Pictures alongside Stone for Fruit Tree, Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen and Lanthimo for the company ‘Square Peg’ and Miky Lee and Jerry Ko for ‘CJ ENM’ which is co-sponsored by Fremantle.

The ninth feature film by Giorgos Lanthimos is expected in theaters on November 7, 2025.
