Having professional success and a routine full of projects is all people want, especially in times of a pandemic. And when all that backlog comes with the opportunity to use it to deliver important messages to people, it gets even better.
That’s the thought of actress Paloma Bernardi, 36, currently full of alternatives in her profession, all with some reflection to go through. The actress has already recorded two films to be released in 2022, whose themes wander between female feelings and toxic love, made a series for Record, still without a premiere date, which talks about mental health, and is preparing to return to the theater. in March and address fears regarding the future of humanity.
“I started the year 2022 with two films to release, recorded in the pandemic. Thank God I had this opportunity and privilege to work and continue doing my art”, says the actress in conversation with the F5.
The first film is “TPM! Meu Amor”, by author Jaqueline Vargas and directed by Eliana Fonseca. The plot revolves around the female universe and shows a woman in search of a meeting with herself, but as part of the quest to be recognized, valued and loved, without pressure from society and family.
“And I believe that this is a totally pertinent subject. It’s a feature with a lot of humor and lightness, but with reflection. My character, the nurse Monique, deals with all the issues during the menstrual period: seduction, gluttony, anger, anger, sadness. The women will identify themselves”, he explains.
The other film that will feature Paloma is called “Nobody’s Nobody”, a text based on a book by ZÃbia Gasparetto (1926-2018). It is a spiritist film, but one that goes further and addresses abusive and toxic relationships in its narrative.
In the feature, directed by Wagner de Assis, Paloma is Gioconda, a character who shows how the human mind can be an enemy in the face of life as a whole and in love. “She is an empowered, rich, elegant woman, but she is afraid, jealous and possessive. Thus, she lets her sick mind take over her life and that damages her relationship”, says Paloma.
But the social issues do not stop there. During the moments of greatest restriction of the pandemic, the actress recorded from home a series for Record, “Invisible Threat”, by Ajax Camacho. Still without a release date, it touches on a topic that is well known on the planet today: the virus spread through the air.
“It was done remotely, where I recorded it in my house with the direction of the distance. I had to handle the whole issue of production, scenery, costumes, cinematography, in addition to acting, which was a very, very enriching and creative”, he recalls.
Her character is called Ton Ton, a somewhat futile fitness digital influencer who deals in a very negative way with this problem, as do a good portion of people. This project, despite being for Record, is something isolated, since Paloma says she is free from any contract. His last work on open TV was in “Apocalypse” (Record, 2017).
And from March 5th, Paloma will return to the theatrical stages at Teatro Sesi-SP after two years with the free show “Terremotos”, another project that has a message behind it and that should cause identification and reflection. She says that the narrative revolves around an environmental chaos that is to come and that is shown through the eyes of three sisters.
However, while a real earthquake happens outside the house, another type of storm affects the psychological of the women in the family, including the character of Bernardi, who is pregnant and facing pre-partum depression.
“She’s afraid of putting a child in this world full of wars where we don’t know what the education, health and safety of our society will look like. And when you deal with motherhood, you also deal with the future of humanity” , it helps.
The happiness of so many projects contrasts with the difficulties encountered in bringing all this to the public. During rehearsals for the play, Paloma says that some actors had to be replaced because they contracted Covid-19, including her.
Also complicated was having to rehearse wearing masks, which made it impossible for her to see the expressions of more than 30 co-stars on the scene, something that would help in the execution of her work. “We will only see this expression at the premiere, because at all times during the rehearsal we are wearing a mask and maintaining social distance as far as possible. It is to focus on work, but with safety above all”, Paloma adds.
MATERNITY AND LIFE IN THE PANDEMIC
At 36 years old, actress Paloma Bernardi says she is in no hurry to be a mother, although it is a dream. Last year she decided to freeze eggs so she could choose the right time for motherhood.
“I feel super accomplished professionally and I want to continue working much more. That’s why egg freezing was an option. It’s the possibility of living this dream when I find the right time, when I think I can reconcile”, says Paloma.
In this way, she has no idea if that moment is closer or further away, but she is aware that she will know when she feels ready. “The woman in her essence has this characteristic of transforming herself into a thousand to accomplish everything that is necessary. God will empower me and I’m sure I’ll handle it”, she says.
And speaking of God, with the pandemic, the actress says that she exercised her faith more. Through spirituality, she connected with her inner self and kept her mental health up to date. For that, she says she started therapy and found her balance point.
“Self-knowledge is something that I acquired during this period and that I am taking with me for life, because I become a person, a professional and a better woman. I can look inside and experience the world outside”, she reflects.
As for the body, Paloma says that she has also found time to exercise even in the rush of so many projects. As much as possible, she created an indoors routine with online physical activity to keep her body active and be able to withstand the heavy routine.
“We have to keep this for life, the emotional, spiritual and physical balance to be able to move forward”, he concludes.
