In 1999, Globo decided to reinforce its variety programs and removed three big names from the competition. Ana Maria Braga left Note e Anote on Record to present Mais Você; Luciano Huck, presenter of H na Band, accepted the leader’s invitation to command Caldeirão; and Serginho Groisman left SBT, switching from Programa Livre to Altas Horas on the new broadcaster.

Twenty-five years later, Globo seems to be making a similar move. In the space of three years, it has once again ousted three strong names from the competition: Marcos Mion, who had been at Record for 11 years; Sabrina Sato, who had been at the same network for eight years; and now Eliana, who has been at SBT for 15 years.

But there seems to be a certain difference between the two strategies. The trio from the past arrived at Globo to present programs almost identical to those they presented on their competitors – I remember that people even commented on the feeling of turning on Globo and having the impression that they had ended up on Record or SBT.

Ana Maria continued making her recipes in the morning and passing them under the table, Huck continued with his program with a youthful approach and Serginho maintained his eternal program in an arena format, with a young audience, discussing current topics, but from then on reinforced by the artists global.

Now, Globo’s intentions seem a little more nebulous. If Mion was hired with the clear purpose of replacing Huck on Saturdays, now no one knows for sure what Eliana’s fate will be. From what we already know, she will replace Ivete Sangalo at the helm of Masked Singer Brasil and join the cast of Saia Justa on GNT, but that is very little for someone who was, until the other day, the second-leader of the audience on Sunday afternoons on SBT, the natural heir of Gugu Liberato on Silvio Santos’ station.

Based on her profile, Eliana has a way of filling the space left by Angélica, away from Globo for almost four years. But since weekday mornings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons are already busy, what would you have left?

Maybe the space on Tuesday or Thursday night, after the nine o’clock soap opera, which is lacking repercussion. Waiting to see if any big news will be announced in his interview this Sunday on Fantástico on Sunday (30). And pray that your talent is put to good use.

The person who must be bothered by Eliana’s arrival is Sabrina Sato, who was revealed by Globo on BBB 3 and returned to the network after more than a decade at Record. So far, they haven’t chosen her as a presenter on open TV – there were four programs on GNT, one on Multishow and her participation as a judge on Masked Singer. The new hire reduces its chances of a larger space on the main schedule, which still has the largest audiences and advertisers.

And who knows, maybe the blonde will even threaten Mion, whose audience ratings of around 12 points have disappointed the network. The current season’s flagship segment, a karaoke with the day’s guests, is not exactly original and did not excite.
