In his first poetry collection consisting of 35 poems and entitled “Idols Raiva”, from Perispomeni Publications, Periklis V. Katsaounis traverses the whole range of consciousness with practiced lyrical step and special figurative power in search of the origin, dimensions and the consequences of ideas and feelings.

It starts from personal experiences, goes through historical events and reaches the limits of philosophical questions, such as the mobility of phenomena and the drama of eternity, unfulfilled dreams and unfinished missions, the superficiality of dealing with things, the relativity of space and time, the eschatological theories.

As Periklis V. Katsaounis points out to APE-MBE, “I believe that you don’t write poetry, it finds you. It’s there, it’s everywhere and it lets you discover it. You pull aside the curtain of the chamber a little, dig shallowly in the soil of the yard and there are the ideas, the words, the dreams. You polish them a little on your shirt, like the apple before you bite into it, and it becomes poetry.”

Periklis V. Katsaounis was born in Athens in 1968, but comes from Tripoli, where he spent his student years. He studied at the Law School of the University of Athens and did his postgraduate studies at Georgetown University in the USA. Since 1992, he has been practicing as a freelance lawyer, dealing in particular with Labor Law.
