Bartlett Sher to direct Broadway play of Dolly Parton’s life
Nine-time Tony nominee and 2008 South Pacific winner Bartlett Sher will direct the 2026 Broadway musical Hello, I’m Dolly Parton.
“How lucky I am to have the great Bartlett Sir to direct the musical “Hello, I’m Dolly,” Dolly Parton said in a statement.
“When you decide to put your entire life on stage, you hope and pray that you find the right director with the creativity and sensitivity to bring out all the light, love, blood, sweat, tears and laughter that I have experienced in seven decades of my life. My heart says that Bartlett is the right man and the right director for the projecthe added.
According to Deadline, the title of the musical is an homage to the first studio album released in 1967.
She will be joined in production in addition to ATG Production’s Adam Speers by Danny Nozell through Nashville-based CTK Enterprises.
“To be given the opportunity to help her bring this glorious talent of hers to American musical theater is not only an honor, but an absolute thrill. As a youngster growing up in San Francisco, I was a huge fan of the Grateful Dead.».
Their favorite singer was Dolly Parton and the same goes for me,” the award-winning director emphasized.
The musical “Hello, I’m Dolly” will include new songs, as well as covers of the star’s old hits.
