TV presenter Xuxa, 61, has filed an eviction lawsuit against a tenant who lives in one of her apartments, located in Recreio dos Bandeirantes (RJ). He has not been able to pay the last four months of rent.
According to information from the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, the debt that the resident has not paid amounts to almost R$14,000. The case is being processed in the 5th Regional Court of Barra da Tijuca.
The Court confirms that last Monday (15), a summons was issued to the debtor, who now has a deadline to pay the amount. Otherwise, he will be evicted.
This is not the first case in which Xuxa has taken action against a tenant. A lawsuit filed by her in 2022 is still pending in the courts in the second instance.
The then resident of her seafront apartment on São Conrado beach, west of Rio de Janeiro, had not paid the rent correctly since May 2021.
The amount of rent arrears already accumulated to more than R$97.4 thousand. The apartment was rented in 2014, and the monthly rent was around R$11 thousand. In addition to the rent, the tenant was also behind on condominium fees, property tax and other charges.
According to information from the Rio Court of Justice, an agreement was made between the presenter and the tenant, but, according to Xuxa’s defense, he would not have honored the commitments, thus stopping paying more rent.
At the time, the presenter’s team of lawyers stipulated the value of the case at more than R$227 thousand, which was equivalent to the sum of 12 times the value of the last rent.
