The star of the series “The Lord of the Rings”, Viggo Mortensen surprised fans by saying that he is feeling a bit discouraged about accepting invitations from other franchises in Hollywood. The reason? The lack of scripts with interesting stories, and this also extends to the films. “It always has to be about the story,” summarized the actor who plays the character Aragorn.
Mortensen then continued: “It doesn’t matter to me what the genre is or what the budget is or who’s making it. I would never do a movie just because someone is directing it. It has to have the story and, of course, if I think I’m the right actor for the role.”
He also gave his opinion on the franchises he’s been watching on TV. “They’re usually not that good. I mean, for me, they’re not that well written and they’re still kind of predictable,” acknowledged the actor who commented on the possibility of returning to play Aragorn on the big screen. At the moment, “The Lord of the Rings: the hunt for Gollum” is in pre-production and is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
Viggo swears he doesn’t know anything yet. “I don’t know exactly what the story is, I haven’t heard it. But I enjoy playing this character. I learned a lot from playing Aragorn and I had fun. I would only do it if it was right in terms of, you know, the age I am now and so on,” he concluded.
