Tadeu Schmidt turns 50; former volleyball star is a proudly affectionate father and husband

Part of the fun and entertainment for Big Brother Brasil viewers since 2021 is guaranteed by Tadeu Schmidt’s enthusiastic presentation. The journalist spent ten years at the helm of Fantástico, where he became a favorite among viewers with humorous sketches, such as the “horses” in the section dedicated to football, and made a transition to entertainment before turning 50, which he turns this Thursday (17).

Before winning over Globo’s audience, first through sports journalism, Tadeu was an athlete: he played as a setter in volleyball and was even called up to the Brazilian youth team. He is the brother of basketball legend Oscar Schmidt, but preferred to take advantage of his 1.92 meter height in another sport.

Now that he has graduated and is working, he married Ana Cristina, with whom he has had a special tradition of celebrating their anniversary for 26 years. According to his daughters Laura, 19, and Valentina, 21, he is a loving and not at all conservative father, so much so that he was very supportive when his eldest daughter opened up about her sexual orientation.

BBB only lasts three months, but Tadeu is active on social media and is always participating in new projects on Globo, ensuring his space on TV. It is certain that he will host the reality show for a few more years and, starting next week, he will be on a live program commentating on the Olympics with former volleyball player Fernanda Garay.
