  • Athens – Epidaurus Festival: A modernized Hekabi from the Comedie Française in Epidaurus

The leading Comédie Française troupe returns to Epidaurus with the show “Hecuba, not Hecuba”, this time in collaboration with the much-discussed Portuguese director Thiago Rodríguez as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. In his first collaboration with the Comédie Française troupe, Thiago Rodríguez tackles the story of Hecabe. And as is always done in his characteristic frontal idiom, he combines the drama of an ancient with a modern hero in the same timeless canvas: here a Trojan woman with a modern woman, actress and mother. The myth of the tragedy, however, meets heartbreakingly the intimate reality of the actress, mother of a teenager on the autism spectrum, who has been abused by the staff of the institution where she has trusted him. As those in charge try to cover up the case, he decides to release it to the press.
