‘Tinder scammer’ Simon Leviev is victim of social media scam

by

Simon Leviev, known for the documentary “The Tinder Scam” (Netflix), has been the target of a scam through his Instagram profile in recent days. According to sources heard by the American portal TMZ, Leviev was contacted on Thursday (24) by a woman within the social network, who allegedly helped him to make his account verified on Instagram.

The action would take place through the woman’s boyfriend, who according to her worked at Mark Zuckerberg’s company Meta. Leviev even made a video call to the man who would help him, and he came up with a scenario that recreated the environment of the Meta company and its employees, walking behind it.

To get verification and delete all the fake Israeli accounts that existed on the platform, the man asked for a payment of $6,664, which would be made through two PayPal transactions.

Leviev’s manager, Gina Rodriguez, found the payment suspicious and contacted a real employee at the Meta company, who explained that Instagram account verifications are not charged. However, shortly after the coup, the accused deleted their accounts on the social network, keeping the money received by Leviev.

The “Tinder Scam” eventually managed to get his account verified by other means after his manager contacted Meta.

In the Netflix documentary, released on February 2, Leviev is accused of cheating on women he knew through the dating app Tinder. The victims say that he pretended to be the heir of a diamond mine owner and squandered wealth, but then asked for money to escape supposed enemies who were chasing him after having his accounts blocked.

This Wednesday (2), Leviev posted a photo on his Instagram saying that he will soon reveal his side of the story in full. “Y’all have no idea what’s coming…” he wrote.
