Sakellaropoulou contacts Greek consul in Mariupol for the operation to expel Greeks

Telephone communication with the Ambassador to the Consulate General of Mariupol, Ambassador Frangisco Costelleno, who accompanies group of Greeks who left Mariupol this morningaiming to arrive in a safe area and be repatriated to Greece.

The President of the Republic wished Mr. Costellenos good luck in this difficult endeavor and expressed the hope that the mission would reach its destination as soon as possible.

It is noted that at 12 noon SKAI’s envoy, Stavros Ioannidis, reported that the convoy passed through the first checkpoint.

The convoy includes part of the staff of the Consulate General, all the journalists housed in the premises of the Consulate General, as well as Greek citizens who wish to leave.

Ambassador Frangiskos Kostalenos is in the first car. On the way to the west, other vehicles will be integrated.

There are specific directions for distances on the way so that no one gets lost in case there is a mechanical problem or fuel problem, as there is a ceiling in the area.

The consignment has been provided with a verbal notification that has been sent through the Foreign Minister to be displayed at all checkpoints.

The plan is for the procession to move to the city of Zaporizhia and then, depending on the conditions, to the border with Moldova, where there will be a ladder of the Embassy of Bucharest under Ambassador Sofia Grammata to provide them with all possible assistance.

The Consul General in Mariupol Manolis Androulakis will remain at the Consulate General, which will continue to operate.
