Actress Regina Duarte, 77, once again published fake news on her social media and received a false content alert from Instagram.

This time, it was about the Olympics. In a now-deleted post, the former Secretary of Culture of Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) government criticized the opening ceremony by showing a gathering of Christians that she said was a supposed protest at the Games headquarters.

“After the worst opening of the Olympic Games in the history of France, with attacks on Christians, thousands gather in Paris to praise Christ. Why doesn’t this go viral?”, said the post.

But this information is false. In fact, the act refers to a meeting of Christians that took place in May, two months before the start of the competitions.

This was not the first time the actress had suffered a similar punishment. Last year, she published a fake news story about the January 8 coup protesters and the post was labeled as false information.

The false video was about acts in which Bolsonaro supporters vandalized public property. Right at the beginning, a phrase said: “Images that the media will not show.”

At one point, a man was shown with a PT flag as if he were the troublemaker. In reality, the flag had been stolen and it was supporters of Jair Bolsonaro who were vandalizing the buildings of the Powers of the Republic. Instagram stated that the content was analyzed by independent fact-checkers who confirmed that it was false.

Months earlier, Regina had posted false information about the Yanomami and also spread untruths about the electoral process.

The recurrence of fake posts caused the platform to warn new followers about the risk of starting to follow Regina’s profile. “Are you sure you want to follow Regina Duarte?”, the automatic message began.

“This account has repeatedly posted false information that has been reviewed by independent fact-checkers or that is otherwise against our Community Guidelines,” the alert read.
