Aerosmith have announced that they are halting their tour due to singer Steven Tyler’s vocal cord injury.

The rock band, which formed in Boston in 1970, have canceled all remaining shows on their ‘Peace Out’ farewell tour.

In a statement to fans on social media, the band said: “It was in 1970 when a spark of inspiration became the group Aerosmith. Thanks to you, that spark caught fire and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us from the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history. We were honored to have our music become a part of yours. We were honored to have our music become a part of your life. In every club, every huge tour and in big and private moments, you gave us a place on the soundtrack of your life.”

As noted, Steven Tyler worked tirelessly to get his voice back to where it was before his vocal cord injury with the best medical team by his side.

“Unfortunately it is clear that full recovery from his voice injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary decision – as a band, as brothers – to withdraw from the tour.” emphasized in the announcement.

Singer Steven Tyler, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, drummer Joey Kramer and bassist Tom Hamilton pioneered the fusion of rock and hip-hop on their epic collaboration with Run-DMC ‘Walk This Way’ in 1986.
