Star of the new “Star Wars” trilogy, Daisy Ridley, 32, discovered she had an autoimmune disease in 2023. The diagnosis came after consulting an endocrinologist: Graves syndrome or Basedow-Graves, a type of hyperthyroidism that produces excess hormone. “It was funny, I thought I was angry at the world, but it turns out that everything happens so fast that you can’t relax,” explained the actress.

Daisy learned of the condition after experiencing hot flashes, fatigue, a racing heartbeat, weight loss and hand tremors. “I thought, ‘I’ve just done a really stressful role, that’s probably why I feel so unwell,'” she said, recalling that she had just finished filming the movie “Magpie.”

Although Graves’ disease has no cure, Daisy Ridley takes medication daily, which helps her feel better, and she has had to become more strict with her diet and exercise. “I’m not super strict about it, but overall cutting out gluten has made me feel better,” she said, as she is vegan.

Ridley also said in an interview with “Women’s Health” that she has included activities such as infrared saunas, cryotherapy, massages and acupuncture in her routine. She also discussed suffering from endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome. “We are all struggling with something that other people can’t see, and meeting people with kindness, grace and care is the most we can do,” the British actress said about her health issues.
