Taylor Swift has canceled all three dates of her The Eras Tour in Vienna, Austria, after police in the country arrested two suspects for planning an attack.
According to the Guardian, police said they had evidence that the focus of the attack was the Ernst Happel stadium in the Austrian capital, where the singer was due to perform next Thursday (8), Friday (9) and Saturday (10).
One of the suspects, aged 19, was arrested at his home with chemical substances, which are being analysed. The young man, who is Austrian, pledged allegiance to the Islamic State a few weeks ago. A second suspect who was allegedly involved in the attack has also been arrested.
The show’s organizers announced via Instagram on Wednesday night (7) that the shows were canceled after the police “confirmed” that there was a planned attack at the venue. “We have no choice but to cancel the three shows for everyone’s safety,” the company said.
Around 170,000 fans were expected to attend the three shows. A week ago, three children were killed and two adults injured in an attack in Southport, England, during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
