Involved with her latest production, “Minha Vida em Marte 2”, a sequel to the 2018 film, Mônica Martelli, 56, recalled her first role on TV, in “Por Amor” (1997), by Manoel Carlos. The actress recognized that secretary Paula had a small role throughout the soap opera, and decided to turn things around. She had to come up with a strategy so that her character would be promoted in the plot.

Mônica didn’t hide that she had very high expectations for the character. “The day I went to do “Por Amor”, I said goodbye to my family. I said: ‘Guys, a kiss, I got it!’. I spent eight months saying the following sentence: ‘Dr. Arnaldo, Dona Branca on line C'”, she said in an interview with Sem Censura this Wednesday (7).

The actress explained that she tried to stand out with the only line she had during the Globo soap opera, using a different intonation each time. Family members even asked her not to say the “classic phrase” anymore, but she said she couldn’t lose the ‘only thing she had’ and then had the idea of writing a letter to the author.

Mônica revealed the message. “I left it at his reception and wrote in the letter: ‘Maneco, Paula is super competent as a secretary, I think she deserves to be promoted'”, she said.

To the actress’s surprise, her request was granted. “He then did a scene in which Fagundes was there, Fábio Assunção and Cássia Kis at a table, Fábio looked and said: ‘Guys, I would like to inform you all that Paula has been promoted to company manager’. And at the end, I looked and said: ‘Thank you’. ‘ The speech slowed down, but at least the scene was above me. There was a close-up”, he joked.
