The American court granted a request by Kim Kardashian, 41, to break up her divorce case from singer Kanye West, 44. Thus, the businesswoman and reality TV star was officially declared single and will no longer use the artist’s name.
The court’s decision comes after a hearing held on Tuesday (1st), which Kim followed by videoconference – West did not participate. According to People magazine, the businesswoman had already asked to change her marital status three months ago.
According to the publication, Kim claimed that he wanted to divorce, but the singer did not accept, just as he would not have heeded her pleas to keep the divorce out of the public. In documents dated February, she claimed the court’s decision would help West accept the separation.
“While I wanted our marriage to be successful, I have come to the conclusion that there is no way to repair it. I ask that the Court restore me to single person status so that my entire family and I can begin the healing process,” he said. Kim.
The businesswoman also said that further delaying the divorce “will only create more tension and anxiety” and accused West of trying to “rewrite the terms of the parties’ prenuptial agreement”. Therefore, she asked to separate the child custody and property issues from her marital status, which has now been addressed.
Kim and West started dating in 2012 and got married in May 2014. They had four children together, before they began to have problems in 2020, with controversial statements and a failed candidacy by West for the American presidency.
At the time, Kim spoke openly about the singer’s diagnosis of bipolar disorder and asked fans for “compassion”, acknowledging the situation as “complicated and painful”. She filed for divorce in February last year, after nearly seven years of marriage.
Kim has been dating comedian Pete Davidson, 28, since late last year. West has since published a few attacks on him and even claimed a small victory in his war against the comedian when he deleted his Instagram profile. The singer has also appeared in new relationships, such as with model Julia Fox.
