The wife of former player Kaká, Carol Dias Leite revealed this Wednesday (2) that she had a miscarriage. The model and businesswoman was expecting her second child with the sportsman —the two are already parents to Esther, who is 1 year old; Kaká is also the father of Luca, 13, and Isabella, 10, from his first marriage.
The announcement was made through social media. Carol published a video with scenes from the baby’s gender reveal shower, held recently, and shared the news with her followers. “When I heard about women who lost their babies while still in the womb, I would immediately try to imagine the pain, but I couldn’t really feel the pain,” she said.
“I also thought that some phrases like ‘ah, but at least the baby wasn’t born yet’ could help… But the truth is that our daughter was already with me as soon as we found out she was pregnant”, he said. “She was already part of our life, of our plans. She was dreamed of, desired and was already very much loved!”
Carol said she is still in shock from the loss. “I’m still kind of lost, in airplane mode, I still feel like a piece of me is missing,” she lamented. “I still wake up at night, I still have some seizures, I still put my hand on my belly like she’s there, I still say her name like she’s with me. It’s not okay yet… Yet! But it will be!”
She also sympathized with other women who have gone through the same. “I want to direct my feelings, my thoughts and my prayers to all mothers, fathers and people who play this role in someone’s life, who can find an unshakable strength to be inexhaustible sources of unconditional love,” she wrote. “And to those who have lost their children, may they be comforted and may have access to the peace that passes all understanding.”
