Catfish host breaks neck after crashing into truck: ‘Lucky to be alive’

MTV’s Catfish host Nev Schulman, 39, suffered a serious accident and broke his neck after crashing his bike into a truck in New York. He survived and posted a report about the incident on his social media.

“I am lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery. I am beginning to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and small things before the accident, and now for everything that is happening,” he wrote.

The presenter was riding his bike to pick up one of his children from school when he collided with a truck. After the collision, he was taken to the hospital unconscious, and it was then diagnosed that he had broken his neck. He underwent surgery, and the fracture did not compromise his spine.

“Stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed. My hands were like a question mark for a minute, but the human body is incredible,” he highlighted in the publication in which he shows his X-rays and the condition of the helmet he was wearing.

With no date yet set for his release from the hospital, Nev has been monitored and is using physiotherapy to get out of bed.
