Choosing the right shade for our hair is not easy at all! Everything you need to know
When the shade of hair it suits you perfectly, everything from your haircut to your make-up and choice of clothes looks more harmonious and flattering. The secret to getting it right color it is in your skin tone.
The basic rule for choosing a hair color (although many successfully break it) is not to deviate more than two tones from your natural color, whether it is lighter or darker. Thus, the result looks more natural, the roots are not so obvious and the color acquires more depth and dimension. From there, by playing with the different tones, shades and placement of the colors, you can create the look you desire.
Consider your skin tone
If you’ve ever tried to match the shade of your foundation or concealer, you’ll know that skin tones generally fall into three basic categories: warm, cool, and neutral. Warm skin tones are usually paired with warm hair colors such as golden blonde or caramel brown. Cool skin tones go well with cool shades like platinum or ash brown. Finally, neutral skin tones are versatile and can support both warm and cool undertones.
Don’t forget your skin tone
It’s also important to consider your undertone, i.e. whether your skin has a pink, yellow or oily undertone. To find it, look at the veins in your wrist. If your veins look blue or purple, you probably have a cool undertone. If they look green, then you have a warm tone. This is why testing foundation or concealer on your wrist is so effective.

Photos inspo
Look at your old photos, especially from your childhood, for inspiration. Your natural color, as nature intended it, is a safe guide to finding a shade that will suit you perfectly. Alternatively, see photos of celebrities who look like you. Choose someone with similar features and narrow down your choices to a specific color.
Dyeing at the salon
A professional hairstylist can help you find the exact color that fits your lifestyle and the level of maintenance you’re willing to do. For example, if you have black hair and want to go blonde, it will take several appointments to achieve this. The darker your natural color, the more work it takes to lighten it. This means more salon appointments and a greater risk of wear and tear.
Beauty tip: Prepare your hair before the appointment. Ideally, the night before you should have washed your hair only with shampoo and a little conditioner, without applying any styling products. On the day of the appointment, make sure your hair is completely dry so it’s ready to be dyed.
Whatever color you choose, don’t forget to take care and protect your hair!
