Victor Dornelas, a geriatrician who treated Silvio Santos at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, used social media on Sunday night (18) to bid farewell to the presenter. He also spoke about the care the team took with the owner of SBT. Silvio passed away this Saturday (17), victim of bronchopneumonia which, according to the medical report, was a consequence of the H1N1 infection.
“Taking care of you was the greatest challenge and privilege I have ever had. The last few weeks have been so intense that it felt like they lasted much longer,” Dornelas began, praising and calling the dedication of everyone involved in caring for the businessman “beautiful.” “More beautiful than that was seeing the love and faith of your family. Unwavering, intense and true,” the doctor added.
Dornelas praised the pride he felt in caring for Silvio Santos, who died at the age of 93. “A love that overflowed in every gesture, word and look. A love that welcomed and allowed us to practice honest and humane medicine, preserving his biography,” he said.
He even recalled a conversation the two had last month. “When you asked me why I wasn’t married, I awkwardly replied that I was married to my patients. I got a legendary laugh with the answer and, as a bonus, another lesson: ‘I know few people who have worked harder than me, but family is very important, Dr. Victor, don’t forget,'” he added.
The geriatrician emphasized that Silvio’s passing was “peaceful and dignified” and also thanked the Abravanel family for believing in his work. “Thank you for your trust, Mrs. Iris, CÃntia, Silvia, Daniela, PatrÃcia, Rebeca and Renata. Thank you Gabriel Truppel Constantino for the partnership, companionship and friendship. Thank you to Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein and the professionals involved for allowing us to practice the best practice. Thank you for so much Silvio”, concluded Victor.
