‘Boni invented my career, I am grateful until the next incarnation’, says Claudia Raia

After her fixed contract with Globo ended in July, Claudia Raia is full of gratitude for the master who opened the doors for her at the channel where she worked for 40 years.

Accompanied by her daughter Sophia at the launch of Boni’s biography this Tuesday (19), in São Paulo, the actress spoke to F5 who feels indebted to him “until the next incarnation”.

“I spent 40 years at TV Globo and he was the one who invented my career. He saw me, arranged everything with Jô Soares and I started my career on ‘Viva o Gordo’ because of him,” said the actress, who later dated and married Jô.

“All the great work I’ve done, it was him [Boni] who cast me. I have an immeasurable love for him, a gratitude that does not fit into this incarnation, I will owe him this even in the next incarnations”, said the actress.

Antonio Fagundes, who also attended the autograph session for “O Lado B de Boni”, has not yet read the biography, but believes it may end up appearing among the pages. “Maybe he will mention one thing or another, yes”, says the veteran, modestly.

“Boni is the greatest figure on Brazilian TV. Without him, TV would not be what it is today. And above all, a great friend,” added Fagundes.

Golden age

Cássio Gabus Mendes was also at the event and celebrated the opportunity to have worked with Boni during Globo’s “golden era.” “If today we have a TV channel with quality standards recognized worldwide, not only in television drama but also in journalism, we owe it to Boni,” he said.

“He is a cutting-edge person with whom I had the privilege of working together during a golden era at Globo. I have great admiration and respect for him,” praised Cássio.

Leona Cavalli was also present at the autograph session. “He made and makes a huge difference in Brazilian communication,” said the actress.
