Gabriela Duarte suffered and still suffers from the political stance of her mother, Regina Duarte. The actress who played Raquel Acioly in the first version of “Vale Tudo” (1988), was Secretary of Culture at the beginning of Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) government, in 2018. A supporter of the former president, the veteran actress often takes a political stance on social media, always linked to conservative issues, in addition to spreading fake news. Regina has been warned several times by Instagram.
In an interview with the “GiMi” channel on YouTube, Gabriela details the situation: “It affected me in several ways, because we are public figures, and she took a position and I respect it, of course. There is a difference in positioning. She also took a position in a way that I don’t do the same way. So it affects me, these are things that sometimes generate noise and it is very complicated”, she says.
Gabriela reaffirms that she does not share Regina’s position, who recently claimed to have been rejected by the artistic class. “It’s easier to lump everything together. Put it all together, close it up. It’s easier. And it’s not like that. Just as I don’t think like my parents, I want my children to be like that too. They want them to have their own ideas, to think for themselves,” she says.
She also explains that she avoids exposing her positions and prefers to share her opinions with people close to her. “I’ve always been [discreta]because of the way I grew up, there was always this issue of me being a public person, directly or indirectly. This made me stay in my own world, live my life. I value my personal, private life a lot. In my personal circle I share things, I feel comfortable”, he adds.
